I don't want to get all political or anything, but with all the taxes we pay, income tax, council tax, national insurance, VAT and every other tax you can think of, you would think that a much better level of service for a serious injury like that would be achievable. A half an hour wait would have been unacceptable, but a 2 hour wait, is nothing short of a slap in the face for everyone who is in need of emergency services.

Dear all, the London Ambulance Service has finally replied to the complaint I filed the day after Raj's incident. You can all read it here.

It sucks to know that, since Raj was still breathing and his injury was not life-threatening (but just because the skin didn't break, otherwise things would have gone differently...), they assigned a higher degree of priority to other calls which, I understand, were all life-threatening. But, anyway, here's their response. Fingers (and legs) crossed we will never have to go through this again.

No need for that alt all Raj. But thanks for the nice gesture buddy.

Hi Guys. Raj has paid for a match credit for each of you to say thank you for your help on Tuesday night. I told him that he didn't owe us anything but he was insistent so I will add a credit to each of your accounts. Send me a message to let me know when you would like to use it.

guys, I just want to say a big thank you to each and everyone of you for the kindness and empathy shown towards me. it's something I will always treasure and remember for the rest of my life. I don't know how I would have coped without your strength and courage . you were fantastic. I've just had the operation and have a nice steel rod inserted into my leg. I will be on crutches for a month or so and no sports for 6 months. such a pity. the group really is amazing. I would just like to wish you all the best for the future and maybe one day our paths will cross again. regards , Raj

Hey Raj and Team, really sorry about last night. I was going for a shot on goal and didn't see you come in. It's all a bit of a blur. It made me feel sick. I thought that you were incredibly brave and showed real strength in the way you handled yourself and the pain. The fact that you managed to tell us jokes ... amazing :) I wish you a speedy recovery. A friend of mine managed to travel around the UK and Europe in a cast so hopefully you will still be able to travel.
    Best Wishes,

Yeah, I would just like to say thanks to all of you for hanging around and supporting Raj last night. It just shows what a good bunch of guys we have in the group.

@Raj you gave us all a bit of a scare, glad you are in good hands now. As the paramedic said; hopefully it is not a complicated break and they can fix you back together properly and in good time for your trip. (if you get the choice go for the Adamantium exoskeleton I hear it works well). Enjoy the drugs while you are allowed them mate ;) @Guy, as I said to you last night I know how it feels to be on your side of the fence too. My lazy limbs have dished out a few injuries recently too fortunately not as bad as this one but that is just luck. It could have happened to any of us in any game probably 100 times over so I hope you don't feel guilty as none of us including Raj are going to hold you responsible. @Raj Get well soon and keep us all updated we wish you the best.

Guys, I am writing a formal complaint to the London Ambulance Service. I will obviously complain about the delay and not about the excellent service Raj received when the paramedics arrived. If you have suggestions or if you want me to send it on your behalf as well, send me an email ([masked]). It could have happened to any of us and it may happen again, so I think it is our duty to demand a better service. I'll send it tonight (I think it has to be sent within 24 hours), so if you have any comment, drop me a line. Cheers.

I agree. Terrible to have to wait 2 hours. Unheard of.

Just had a text from Raj. He is still in hospital waiting for an operation at some time today. He is feeling much better and said to thank all the guys who helped him last night. He'll keep us updated on his progress.

Really unfortunate injury which could have happened to any of us - wish you a speedy recovery Raj!

@jay. The ambulance arrived 2 hours after the injury. They looked after him. Gave him morphine, oxygen and some other stuff, waited 20 minutes for it to take effect, then they moved him. Raj is one of the nicest people i've met since playing football and futsal this year. You couldn't meet a nicer bloke. Get well soon mate.

    4 · December 18, 2013

    • Alex

Definitely one of the bravest blokes I've ever come across on a football pitch and probably anywhere else too. Get well soon, mate! The kids in South America are awaiting you!

What time did the ambulance finally arrive? Get well soon Raj!

    December 17, 2013

  • Matteo Di M.

Raj, I wish you heal quickly and will come back even stronger. Best of luck for your recovery and I hope to see you again soon on the pitch.

I got injured yesterday, and right now I can barely walk. I'll let you know if I can make it on Tuesday, so that someone else can play. If not, would it be possible to get a refund or a match credit? Thanks.

    December 15, 2013

    • Alex

Let's wait until tomorrow evening, if that's OK. Thanks, Antony.

      December 15, 2013

    • Alex

I've made a speedy recovery, so I'll be ok tomorrow. See you at the pitch!
