Join us 8/26 for Joan Clipp's Mosaic Demo.
Note * indicates Joan will have extras of the particular item listed for use during the meeting if anyone needs it.
Plan: First we’ll make some tiles, then bake them while Joan shows the tapered edge trick, you’ll need an Exacto/craft knife* to play along for the tapered edge technique.
Tools: Clay blade, pasta machine or acrylic roller, work surface, rubber stamps or texture sheets/texture tools, needle tool, toothpick, little spatula or popsicle sticks* for spreading glue. Mini foam applicator or brush for powders* (or use your fingers!)
Supplies: Conditioned Polymer Clay (a half block or so each color is plenty): Black, White or your Favorite Colors (need inspiration on colors that go together? Check out paint swatches and home décor magazines!)(any clay is fine if covering objects, good time to use up your soft clays like Sculpey).
White Glue*, Pearl Ex or metallic powders, chalks, Deli patty paper*, hand wipes or paper towels.
Optional: Acrylic paints & brush (for painting tiles after baking), Canes for veneer tiles (mokume gane, flower, any kind of cane, even faces), Transfer decals, Jewelry bits, sead beads, chain, rhinestones*, Flat Items to cover, foam core, books, boxes, etc. (I’ll have plenty of wood pieces close to ATC size about 2”x3”), Cutters for uniform tile shapes or you can use clay blade
-Stencil or Shapelets for tapered edge demo.
As always bring and share some of your recent work, or work made utilizing the technique shown at the last guild meeting demo. We love to see what fellow members are doing!
