Lucy Light Forest at the Hatch Shell

This will be a short event, thanks to Nora for broadcasting it. We will visit the running path at the Charles River Esplanade. The Lucy Light Forest celebrates movement and women athletes with an interactive display of 10,000 solar-powered, motion-sensitive LED lights.

I have absolutely no clue what this is about and how well it is to capture on photos, but it is a very unique event and I'd like to see if we can create some magic moments.

Whether you're on foot, bike, or roller blades, the amber lights will react to your movements. During the exhibition, free yoga, Pilates, and other fitness classes will be offered. The event is presented by lucy.

There will be no fitness class Sunday, hence, we can shoot around sunset (6:30-ish) and into the darkness. We can trigger the lights ourselves or watch people walk and drive by.

Suggested equipment: wider angle and zoom lenses, in case you need to stand further away.

After the event, we can continue to shoot Charles River Reflections along the Esplanade.

Here are some more pictures that somebody took last night:

Where exactly are we meeting? In Jurgen's map it is much more west than the spot indicated on the Lucy web site.
I am taking the T, so I am not sure what station should I take? Arlington (which is close the the Arthur Fidler bridge, Coply? or the Hynes?)

    Any suggestion would be appreciated.

If anyone is up to walking down to the BU bridge (which we visited a couple times in the past), we may be able to capture a new laser art installation tonight...

This is the location to be, the laser would be to the right:

I can't work out the scheduling either. Have to work and I'm going away this weekend. Wish I could go. It sounds like fun.

Yes, timing is a challenge, especially fro outside. I changed the start time to 6:30, but the lights will be on all night, I presume, so we can take our time...

    Parking is best at_________?

    October 3, 2013

    • Jurgen M L.

There are no parking garages nearby. I will probably try to park along Back St (parallel to Storrow Dr, behind the bushes) or along Beacon St or the cross streets. Watch for "residents only" signs.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
