Ft. Revere Light Painting

  • Apr 19, 2014 · 7:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

This time we have permission from the ranger to shoot there after dark. Ft. Revere is a decommissioned fort in Hull, with gun batteries and bunkers. (See previous description). There is a lot of graffiti, many hallways and stairs, making this a fantastic place for light painting. There are also wonderful views of Hull and Boston.

As always, we are weather dependent, but unless it's pouring rain, we're probably going.  We are working on a rain date.

This meetup is limited to 10 people, due to limitations of space. Light painting is collaborative, and we'll work in teams in order to maximize the experience.
Wear dark clothing and sturdy shoes. Bring all your colorful flashlights, glow sticks and any fun paraphernalia to provide lighting.  Wide angle lenses are good here due to  small spaces.

Please don't sign up unless you are really sure you can come. We've had problems with members dropping out at the last minute when others are waiting to get in. Things come up, that's life, but please be considerate and try to give some notice, so that others can fill your place.

Sunset is at 7:29 so we'll meet at 7:00 to get oriented and set up. If you arrive late and encounter local police, tell them that we have a permit by Ranger Tobin and ask them to find Jurgen or Lisa.

Great location, thanks Jurgen for the organization. I can use some help in selecting/buying some of the light painting equipment. With just a regular flash light, the images I got were not too inspiring...

Special thanks to Paul, Andrea's husband, for his good humor, and for his help with retrieving lost items in the dark, and shepherding us from place to place safely. Could he please come on all our shoots?

Many thanks to Elizabeth and Sherri for all of their help last night. I have only shot at night a handful of times, and they were nice enough to let me share in their fun and learn a lot!

It was a good experience. I wish there was a way to work with other members of the group

      There is: ask! :-)

I understand, Yair! Night shooting tends to be less interactive in its nature; it is sometimes dificult to interact and stay out of another's shot same time!

This location really inspired some creative light painting!

Nice clear night at a wonderfully quirky location. I love photographing this decaying old fort, with all of its colorful graffiti and great views. The fun is seeing how creative all of us can be.

In preparation for tonight's light painting, take a look at Troy Paiva's work, very unique stuff. He got using colored lights down pat and it shows that there is a lot more to it than just shining a light on a surface. Very intricate work!

Weather forecast is for clear skies and dry with moderate winds. Should be a great night to do this!
