We will explore the Cape Cod Canal bridges. Don Fleet was so nice to scout it out and add a few pictures below. This is a four stop meetup, make sure to be there not too late or text me for actual location.
We will remain on the mainland side at all times and start at the Sagamore bridge (Grand Army of the Republic = GAR Highway). Here is a link that shows the entire route of four stops. You need to open that link in your browser, not your mobile app. There is plenty of parking at this first stop. Don assured me that he ordered a nice sunset to be taken from this location, as we will be shooting west. [masked], [masked]
Second stop will be the Bourne bridge and parking will be along the road at the water. Please follow your GPS, the map forces me through the camp ground, which costs money to access. Getting there will be a left turn at Eastern Mountain Sports, from Rt[masked],[masked]
Third stop is the railroad bridge, which is a pretty cool truss structure that is raised up for boats to pass underneath and makes for a good startrail image, if we have clear skies (which Don ordered, too). [masked], [masked]
Fourth and final stop is the harbor, from which we can shoot back east and capture both RR and Bourne bridges at the same time. There may also be a large ship anchored for loading, which would make for nice detail studies. Biker Bar available for beverages:[masked], [masked]
And for all those who are still not fed up, there is a cool gravel site at 665 Scenic Hwy Buzzards Bay, MA (between Sagamore and Bourne bridges on Rt 6,[masked], [masked]). And, of course, there is Buzzards Bay itself, a nice harbor to roam around for maritime themes.
And I'll even throw one more thing into it: throughout the night, there will be a close conjunction of Moon and Mars, which come within 3 degrees of each other, see last photo.
Suggested lenses are super-wide to medium-long zooms, particularly for the last stop. Bring your lens shades, as always, intervalometer, sturdy shoes as we will be walking a bit. Except for the second stop, your car will be nearby, so you can keep additional items there.
