Writing your first Android App

  • Feb 21, 2013 · 7:00 PM

Be sure to bring your laptop to this meetup since we'll be writing code! We're going to walk through creating your very first Android app! This will involve creating a UI that will work across any size screen, all of the back end connections to interact with the UI via code as well as some tips and trick that we've learned along the way! The first half of the meetup will be going through the project and the second half will be a workshop to make sure that everyone leaves with a functional app!

Download and install the Android Development Tools Bundle (Eclipse and Android SDK) if you haven't done so already.

I was really looking forward to this event. Unfortunately I will be unable to attend. I hope to catch another event soon.

I aleady RSVP'd via Meetup & I did not receive the email to re-RSVP on GDG until later. Does this mean I have to on the waiting list?

I think it will be fine... but we will see when the date gets closer. I have no idea of how many people who RSVP'd are really going to show up. The GDG-Columbus should be the real list. We usually get about 50% of those that RSVP. No worries... we will all figure it out as the date gets closer. Fee free to email or call me directly. [masked] 614.835.PETE Best!

Ohio State Technology Commericalization office, 1524 north high street, south campus gateway, could be available, parking garage etc. ATT wifi etc, have facility for 90 folks- need notice if thats really the crowd etc, but have projection abilities etc.

Thanks, Dan. That might be a great venue for our OUYA Android event March 21st--if we get a lot of interest to see our dev console before the consumer launch. I think we might need to keep this event to 20 or so people, so we have enough experience in the room to help one another (and stay on the north end near where we usually meet). Considering a couple places at Polaris right now (and INC8000 in New Albany). Thanks!
