NOTE: THIS EVENT IS IN TORONTO! COORDINATE WITH OTHER GROUP MEMBERS OR GROUP LEADERS FOR RIDES!

We're going on a road trip! Exciting!

We'll be meeting up with the folks from GDG Toronto to do a JavaScript code jam. We'll use all the skills we've built thus far to put together some awesome JavaScript apps.

    I thought I would toss this out for the benefit of others in the group who, like myself, are either new to JS or 'rusty'. Chris and I were working one of the challenges with 'stolen' code from Stackoverflow or elsewhere. At one point we were seeing events that did not make sense. Mouse events were being triggered on load.

    Thinking that the JS code was executing before the DOM was set up I put the 'stolen' code in a wrapper and called the wrapper from the jQuery .ready call. (see below). This solved the problem with the events.

    But we still had other problems to debug.

    // wrapper
    function theWholeWrapper() {
    // stolen cut/paste code goes here
    } // end wrapper
    $( document ).ready( theWholeWrapper );

    Regards
    JohnJ

    there is an excellent parking lot below 107 Front St E, there is one of the better sushi spots very close. Lots of food options etc.

    There are two ways to get to the site, Gardner exit for Jarvis or along the Lake shore being aware there is no left turn from Lake Shore onto Jarvis St

    From Downtown KW it is 1.5 hrs drive (depending on Traffic and Weather)

    I use to live at 107 Front St E. Market is very close by, Traffic will be a bit intense, don't let that deter you.

    Share Gas, I am driving. Those wishing a ride, I promise to keep the driving sane (less than 200km/h) answer here. Room for Three others.

      Not a good idea, Yonge st is closed tomorrow and this weekend also the is by the lake, this would mean driving through major traffic . I have lived across the street from our goal, for years :)

      Best route, 401 - 472 - gardner - jarvis exit

    So for those following the data project, I changed how I do the cloning to speed up rendering; though the browser paint has some serious issues with 3000 records at once.

    The git https://github.com/alexmac131/mediaData No longer do i clone divs inside the clone div, this just created a mess internally to the browser. Also it speeds up the rendering by 50%
