Announcing a new Meetup for Android Programming Classes at the Alameda Public Library!
What: Free O'Reilly Class: Developing Android Apps with Java - A Twitter Client
When: Tuesday, May 18,[masked]:00 AM - 2 PM
Alameda Free Library
1550 Oak St
Alameda, CA 94501
This is a free six-module course by Tony Hillerson which is getting streamed live from Seattle.
For this first session, I've reserved one of the large conference rooms for us to watch it together on the big screen. The remote class is happening from 11 AM to 1PM (we actually have the room till 2:30 PM).
You are encouraged to bring your laptop, (and if possible do some preparation before you even come to class):
- Watch those two videos
- And follow the directions of the second video to set up your Twitter Authentication account.
You don't have to come to the library, you can easily watch the same stream from home, but if you come, we'll be able to help you with any troubleshooting /installation issues, and we'll be able to give you a free O'Reilly ebook coupon just for showing up (the coupon is good for any O'Reilly ebook, in any of the following formats (pdf, mobi, epub, or apk), it's just that it's only one free ebook per person, and the coupon won't work a second time if you've received one already).
Also, O'Reilly has given us a more local IRC channel for this event: http://creativelive.com/chat/android-sfbay.html
The remaining five modules, we won't be streaming them at the library (I'll be out of town), but I'll mark them on our calendar anyway. Everyone is strongly encouraged to pair up with a fellow student during this first session, to keep yourselves on track for the completion of this class.
