I have set up a field trip for the Blue Ribbon Children's Festival at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in downtown LA. ** We have 35 tickets **
I was not able to set up a rehearsal beforehand, but I was reassured that this is fine. They will have dance teachers onsite and the kids pick up the steps quickly.
Parking is free if you RSVP. Please park in the Music Center garage and keep your parking ticket. You will then pick up a validation ticket at the Information Table on the Plaza. You will need both tickets to exit the garage and receive complimentary parking. When we exit the garage, insert the parking ticket, then the validation ticket.
The event is free for students and parents!
This program is for 5th graders, but we can open it up to 8-12 year olds.
The Blue Ribbon Children’s Festival is an annual admission-free program to attend a live, professional performance at The Music Center. It includes a curriculum component that culminates on The Music Center Plaza with all participating students performing a short choreographed dance inspired by the production.
The Music Center invites students in Los Angeles County to participate in the Annual Blue Ribbon Children’s Festival, featuring the awe-inspiring theatrical experience Traces. A new form of circus artistry with high energy urban acrobatics, Traces mixes contemporary dance, music, and theatre with street elements such as skateboarding and basketball. The New York Times calls Traces a “fix of pure urban adrenaline and mad, pulse-raising magic.”
This admission-free festival features two performances daily. Following each performance of Traces in the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, all the attending students will gather on The Music Center Plaza to perform a short choreographed dance incorporating themes from the performance.
Parents are welcome to participate in the dance, but not required. :-)
