Elementary Writing, ages 9-11
Creative and essay writing in an informal atmosphere. We will explore words, phrases, sentences, organization, characterization, story, journalism, and poetry in writing. Each meeting will include a short lecture and an activity to inspire expression. There is writing homework every week which can range from the minimum to the moon, depending on the student. Some writing experience required. Reluctant writers are welcome.
Ages: 9-11 years old
The fall semester will run 12 weeks: 9/17, 9/24, 10/1, 10/8, 10/15, 10/22, 10/29, 11/5, 11/12, 11/19, 12/3, 12/10 (no class on 11/26)
Cost: $160/12 weeks, may be paid monthly

Erin Chianese is a teacher, published author, and former homeschooling mom to 2 daughters who have graduated from college. Her goal as a teacher of English is to share her love of writing and reading with students. Her philosophy is to respect each student's writing content and process, to try to create a safe place to share writing, and to acknowledge each students' gifts. This is a drop-off class, but as always, parents are invited to stay and observe.
To sign up one child, please RSVP as yourself; to sign up two children, RSVP +1 guest, etc.
If you are not using charter school funds, please bring payment to the first day of class or pay online. Please make checks payable to Erin Chianese.
This location has a playground where parents and younger siblings may wait. Trampoline is off-limits, though.
