I've already heard from a couple of families that want to start a team! So please RSVP here if your child wants to be on the "high school" team. You just need four team members and a parent to serve as coach. I imagine they just need one parents' name that is turning in the form, but I'm sure all the parents will be helping out.
Remember, team members must reside in Long Beach.
You can email each other through meetup, but let me know if you need help getting info out. You can also use this meetup's board to exchange info (use the comments button).
You only need to turn in the team members' names before December 16, so you don't have to get anything super organized. Then in January the team will receive their kit.
All of the forms/info for the race have been uploaded to gee!'s files section, under the More tab: http://www.meetup.com/GEEclasses/files/
Let me know if you need help getting messages out. Also, if you need a place to meet - we can do something very economical.
Okay, ready, set, go!

Long Beach has a Solar Grand Prix for middle and high school students. Teams of 4 students design and build their own solar-powered model car and race it.
The contest is on April 21, 2012 in El Dorado Park, but teams need to sign up by December 16.
Kits are given to each team. I have all of the contest information and I will post it in the gee! file section.
Teams must be comprised of 4 students and a teacher/parent coach - all of whom must reside in Long Beach. The teams must be all middle school students or all high school students. There are only 100 team spots open.
A mandatory orientation will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2012. Contact Rachel Powers for more information: [masked]
Here is some info on last year's race: http://www.longbeach....![]()
If your child would like to enter, but you're looking for team members, please let me know. I can post on gee! to get one or more teams going. Thanks!
