These are future events that need RSVPs if you are interested in attending. But first there is a local performance coming up in two days...
Rolling Hills Covenant Church near Lomita & Rancho PV puts on The Pageant of Our Lord. Performances run until the day before Easter, but children under 5 are not allowed. However, they do two performances for the entire family for free! This show is a scaled down 1 hour performance with selected art pieces they feel kids would like the best. Many homeschoolers serve as LIVE MODELS in the art pieces.
The FREE shows for families are this upcoming Tuesday, March 19th at 5:30 and 7:30 pm.
You can register for the free tickets online at http://www.rollinghillscovenant.com/registrations

"The challenge course is comprised of three program tools: Games and Initiatives, Low Elements, and High Elements. Every element is “Challenge by Choice”- it is solely up to the individuals participating to decide their role in each activity. Whether on the ground or 35 feet in the air, our program gives every participant the opportunity to reach beyond their limits"
El Camino College Space Day:
On behalf of the Ellison S. Onizuka Memorial Committee, El Camino College, and American Honda Motor Co., Inc., you are cordially invited to participate in Space Science Day 2013 at El Camino College on Saturday, April 20. This year marks the 27th anniversary of the Space Shuttle Challenger accident that took the lives of the seven crew members including Ellison Onizuka. The day is designed for serious-minded science students in grades 5 through 12. Once again, the whole event is FREE -- including lunch for the first 800 students. We are expecting another great turnout as well as an enjoyable and informative day. This year's featured NASA astronaut has yet to be announced but we are anticipating another inspiring presentation for 2013. Because of limited space, and to ensure a seat and early check-in, students should sign up now. You may register by replying to this email, or to [address removed] or by calling[masked]-3487. More information will be sent to all who sign up as the date nears. Check in will begin shortly after 8 a.m. on Saturday, April 20. The day will end just after lunch with the awards for the Egg Drop Competition. Once again, parents, teachers and administrators are welcome and encouraged to attend. Important Note: Because of the demand to attend Space Day, we want to ensure as many students as possible participate in the classroom breakout sessions. Therefore, parents and/or adults will be asked not to select tickets to the breakout sessions as you are checking in that morning. Adults will be able to stand in or outside of the classrooms or you may enjoy our outside demonstrations. Thank you in advance for your cooperation. Please feel free to forward this email to friends and family.
Long Beach Homeschool Talent Showcase!
Monday, May 6, 2013
Parkcrest Church, Long Beach
Each act should be 2-3 minutes long. No act will be longer than 3 minutes. There will be a small participation fee (about $4) to cover costs, unless I find a sponsor or sponsors. The event will be free to attend, the bigger the audience the more fun to perform. Debra will be starting a list of participants in order of sign up - register at [address removed] . Each participant will be responsible for providing all equipment needed for their act. The piano at the church is not tuned so they suggest you bring in a keyboard. Microphones and sound tech will be provided. This is just for fun. Debra is a mom and just wants to provide a fun event for our homeschool community. This is a work in progress. All acts should be appropriate for all ages. The registration deadline will be April 15th or when 30-35 spots are filled whichever happens first. To register, email at [address removed] with child's name and talent. Parents are encouraged to display your children's artwork (paintings, photographs, etc.) in the foyer. Note: This is called the Long Beach Homeschool Talent Showcase, but any student in LB or surrounding areas are invited to participate.
