Does this sound familiar? You are at the podium, speechless. No word is coming out; worse, nonsensical words are coming out that even you, the speaker, do not understand. The audience gives you the blank stare. The awkward silence is unbearable. You feel terrible and want to hide. Chances are you have been there. We all have. Public speaking evokes fear; but like all other skills, it can be learned and developed, and the fear subdued.
At Toastmasters, public speaking is all we do. This is GGU Toastmasters, a non-profit local chapter of Toastmasters International and sponsored by Golden Gate University. We offer a step-by-step approach to becoming a better speaker. We have helped over a thousand people since 1999.
We regularly meet every first and third Mondays of the month (bi-weekly) between 6:30PM and 7:30PM at Golden Gate University (Mission St between 1st and 2nd in the SF Financial District), except when the university is closed for holidays or semester ends. We are open to the public (this is our public website; we have a separate private website for our registered members). Please come experience the journey of becoming a more effective communicator.
