Though membership in our group is open to anyone, all of our hikes are not appropriate for every member. We use a “Hike Rating System” based on the hike length and total elevation gain to estimate the difficulty of each hike. Hikes rated MS, S, VS, and VVS
1. If you are a NEW Hiker with our club, DO NOT sign up for these hikes until you have called the hike leader and discussed the hike. As a general rule, you must be a regular hiker, backpacker, runner, cycler, or jogger before a hike leader will clear you for a hike rated MS or above.
2. If you are bringing a first-time guest on one of these hikes, please call the hike leader for clearance to hike.
3. If you are a Seasonal Hiker in our club, please call the hike leader for clearance to hike.
4. If you are a regular hiker in our club and you are attempting your first VS or VVS hike, please call the hike leader for clearance to hike.

Hike Leaders are allowed to limit the number of members on each hike and to screen members as to their ability to safely complete a hike.

Limited hikes. Many of our hikes have a limit on the number of hikers allowed to attend the hike. Therefore, it's important to RSVP to attend these hikes and VERY important for you to remove yourself from the RSVP list at the earliest time if you can not attend a limited hike. Habitual offenders who fail to remove themselves from the RSVP list will be removed from the hike by an organizer and placed on a manual "Wait List." If a spot is available when the RSVPs close, you will be admitted back to the hike.

The RSVP for Sunday hikes will open at 6:00 PM on the Monday evenings prior to the hike. This procedure was put in place in August 2015 because certain hikers would sign up to hike weeks in advance and at the last moment, they would sign off the hike. This caused other hikers to remain on the Wait List until the last moment wondering if they could hike or not. This situation was not fair to all. Since this procedure was put in place, we have experienced only an occasional Wait List.

Published "Return" times are approximate, generally plus/minus 30 minutes. Return times are not published for Saturday hikes.
