From the parking lot on top of Horsepasture Rd, (off Hwy 178) we hike about 2 miles to a pretty steep downhill to find a narrow waterfall that has carved a tunnel through the rock. Lunch at nearby primitive campground along this pristine creek. Then we climb back up the hill for the return trip.

On Hwy 178, about 2 miles before the trailhead, you will encounter a sign "ROAD BLOCKED: DETOUR" at the Sassafras Mtn turn-off.
Ignore it and drive straight as you will have access to your hike trailhead. Hwy 178 is indeed blocked, but above (north) of Horsepasture Rd turn-off.
