This was a totally awesome event.... too bad more people didn't attend. We had a great time "networking" and meeting new patriots. Mary did a spot on the John Osterlind radio show, Senate candidate Rob Maness was there, great bands, great food and drinks....and great weather!!

Despite the low turnout, I found the event to be outstanding. I'm just sorry that more of our active military and Veterans weren't able to come and enjoy it. I know that a lot of advertising was done, as well as word of mouth, so I hope that they are able to find out what hindered folks from coming, so that next time, we'll get them out, which was the whole point.

I am certain though, that the folks who did attend, had a great time.

    The weather was exquisite.

The grilled chicken, sausage and baked beans were delicious.

The live music was rocking and fun. (I especially loved the fact that we had a great mix of Country, Rock, Pop, Blues all performed by GREAT musicians, who gave their time and effort to this great cause.

      Continued:

3.) Cinderella spent time with the young princesses and young pirates and bestowed them with a certificate, and 4.) face painting.

The evening ended with a Mardi Gras Indian dance event which was a GREAT way to start bringing it to a close.

The band that actually closed out the evening was fantastic. Closing out in that beautiful weather hearing that awesome music was a treat.

There were scores of volunteers who gave generously of their time and energy.

The Military Advocacy Project of Louisiana is the finest organizations I've ever known of. Fine is cause, fine is spirit, fine in dedication and love of Country and our Military.

They also had a mobile Blood Donation bus there too on the second day.

Today was great -- friendly crowd, good vibe. Please get out tomorrow to show your support for our veterans. Your ticket price gets you food, live music, and nice people to be around. It's good for the soul.

Just found out I have to man 2 gates, so I can use more volunteers in all time slots. If you can help out, please email me at [masked] with the day and time. Please include your cell # and your shirt size if you don't already have a GNOTP t-shirt.

Not only is this is a worth cause, but you will have a great time and get a FREE meal as well.

XL. I couldn't make meeting last night but if you have instructions or job description I would appreciate it.

Basically, you will be checking military ID's OR taking money and then putting on an arm band and giving out meal and raffle tickets. I won't know for sure until I check out the lay of the land tomorrow afternoon and we will likely not have it all worked out until we get started Sat. morning. Right now I have you working with Candace Reed and she will have already worked a shift so she can fill you in.

I am unable to volunteer; I wasn't able to attend any of the meetings re: the event. However, I still hope to attend on Sat. with a retired law enforcement official.

All Americans owe more to veterans and their families than we can ever repay . It is a terrible shame that Obama was willing to spend 100 million dollars on a trip to Africa, or send one & a half billion to the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, and Michelle (and many friends) can take outrageously expensive vacations, but they can't find enough money to take care of the most deserving, our vets.

Please, if you have volunteered for the gate duty, PLEASE try to attend this FINAL meeting. There are new requirements for this event that will be difficult to pass from shift to shift with a line of people waiting.

I have booked a craft/vendor booth for both days, so I'll be working that booth. Warren Pope (who has written several books) and I will be selling books.

    If I wasn't doing that, I'd be volunteering :)

Thanks for caring about the veterans. Most people these days treat them like crap, and I think they deserve some respect regardless of what your own views are about the war they took part in. Risking one's life is not an easy business.
