After the tremendous efforts of GNOTP members and many other groups to put pressure on our BESE Board, John White, Parish School boards, and our state representative, it appears we have thrown a temporary kink in the plans to share our student data with the InBloom data system.

SMOKE AND MIRRORS FROM SUPT JOHN WHITE:

This is an article from last week that describes the "smoke and mirrors" statements of state ED Supt , John White who had previously assured BESE that our student data was completely safe. Shame on the BESE Board for not doing their homework!! Notice Mr. White is still not very specific about exactly WHAT he is doing......

INBLOOM PR SPIN LETTER: "NO PROBLEMS IN LOUISIANA .....JUST A MINOR REORGANIZATION" MUST READ!!!

BEWARE OF SCHOOL TAX PROPOSITION ON THE MAY 4 BALLOT:

According to this article, the St Tammany school tax is "necessary" to pay for the new common core plans and PARCC testing!!! The Jeff Parish School Board tax renewal is FOR A TAX THAT DOESN'T EXPIRE UNTIL 2015!!

LA DEPT OF ED CHASTIZED BY HOUSE APPROPRIATES COMMITTEE FOR BUDGET REQUESTS AND SURPLUS
"Fannin also accused the Department of Education of purposely overestimating costs in an attempt to circumvent oversight by the appropriations committee. He said the department, as it is currently stands, has too much budget authority.
The department has exhibited consistent budget surpluses, last year overestimating costs by $400 million."

Contact YOUR House Rep and tell them you agree that the Dept of Ed has too much "budget" authority..... our elected officials must retain control and KNOW where our tax dollars are going!!

SAD NEWS: ANTI COMMON CORE BILL DIES IN ALABAMA SENATE
http://truthinamerica...

ACTION NEEDED:
Continue to contact Reps and Senators..... especially asking for a "cost analysis" of common core implementation. Continue contacting BESE Board members, Parish School boards, John White, Gov Jindal, etc.

More extremely alarming news that seems to indicate that our Supt of Ed, John White, is anything but honest and transparent in his job.

InBloom says White has NOT withdrawn from the student database program.

This article chronicals 3 lawsuits filed against Sup White and/or the BESE BOARD.

More updates on the Inbloom student database in Louisiana....

During the SCR 68 (anti common core resolution) Senate Education Committee meeting last Wednesday, I spoke about my privacy concerns regarding both PARCC CCSS testing and the InBloom database. The CCSS Intiative that Louisiana is committed to is 3 fold: Common Core Standards, Common Core Assessment and Testing, and the InBloom Longitudinal Data System (data collection and sharing).

We know they are all intertwined because Fed Dept of Ed Secretary Arne Duncan has told us...... and at Duncan's "Datapalooza" event at the White House in October 2012, eScholar CEO, Shawn Bay, discussed the assessments and data collection at length and then stated" common core standards is the glue that holds it all together". Shawn Bay is excited to sell his data collection programs and software to "education" customers to make millions$$$$$. I have no problem with him selling a product and making money....as long as he doesn't PARTNER with the Federal government to get data from our kids. See his creepy video here: http://www.youtube.co... Apparently, he has already collected BILLIONS of pieces of data on kids from Kindergarten to the "workplace".

Congrats, Patriots...... your pressure on the BESE Board regarding the invasive student data base ( the InBloom Common Core SLDS) has gotten results !!!!! Reports are that LA has "withdrawn" from InBloom!!!

IS THE INBLOOM STUDENT DATA BASE REALLY GONE IN LOUISIANA???? We hope so.... BUT we must continue to pressure the BESE Board to keep Supt John White from reinstating it OR from substituting another invasive data base and sharing personal student information. Actually, after watching the June 18 BESE Committee meeting, I think Supt John White should be fired by Gov Jindal and would hope that the BESE board members would pressure Jindal to so. It appears that Supt White has lied repeatedly regarding the LA agreement with InBloom and his Dept of Education has been negligent in responding to requests for information and documentation. It also appears that Supt White has NOT complied with the InBloom agreement for withdrawal from the system and so it is likely that LA is still obligated under the agreement. This would explain why InBloom has been telling stockholders that LA is just "re-evaluating" and not withdrawing from the data base.

Although several BESE BOARD members mentioned a general lack of trust and transparency regarding Supt White and the DOE..... they did not demand an accounting from him on his actions. The best they could do apparently was to create ANOTHER task force to keep an eye on him and our children's data. (IMO, the best solution would be to replace Supt White with someone who could be trusted rather than to GROW GOVT by adding more layers of bureaucrats and committees!!!)

At the Tuesday BESE meetings , memers chastised Supt White for using InBloom without their knowledge and decided Tuesday to appoint a task force to monitor data sharing and advise the administration and the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education.

At the suggestion of board member Jim Garvey, the board ultimately voted to appoint a task force of experts to monitor and advise the board and administration concerning matters of student information. White went along with the proposal.

"There's nothing in the law that says every time the department shares information that it needs to be shared with the board, but I think there should be transparency and I want to build trust," White said.
(He seems a little defensive, don't you think????)

Please WATCH the video below for some amazing information and revelations. Especially good are the comments and question from Jason France and Lee Barrios from the audience.

Link to BESE Committee meetings video on 6/18/13: http://streaming.loui...
(The InBloom discussion starts at 8:16:50 mark and goes to about 9:02:00.)

I would recommend :
Follow Lee Barios on Facebook for CCSS info relative to Louisiana
(Does anyone know where to find Jason French's Blog??)
Write to Gov Jindal and ask that Supt White be replaced with someone who is truthful and transparent.

More suggestions and recommendations later smile

We finally get a look at the "InBloom" agreement and MOU SIGNED BY SUPT JOHN WHITE IN JAN 2013!!! This is the "agreement" White has repeatedly denied existed!! InBloom was the "Shared Learning Collaborative" (SLC) BEFORE they changed their name on Feb 5, 2013 (less than a month after White signed the SCL agreement)

http://www.prnewswire...

Here is an excellent discussion regarding this agreement , Supt White, and the BESE Board meeting last week.
THIS should make your head explode !! https://crazycrawfish...

Links to the InBloom agreement are also in the above article. (Please note that InBloom is actually several different groups with many relationships with other groups that can piggyback onto this agreement and have total access to private info on students, parents, and teachers via their data base !!)

Direct links to Supt John White/LA DOE and SLC/InBloom agreements: See our Meetup FILES pages for 2013.

More details on InBloom. Even tho Louisiana no longer has an agreement with them....you can BET that another mechanism will be used to attain the same purpose.... sharing of personal student info with 3rd parties who see it as a way to make big $$$$ from taxpayers!!
