Sunday Walk and Sunday Roast, The Chilterns and Ivinghoe beacon.

Meeting Point. Euston Station from 09.30 in front of the departure boards. I will be holding a meetup sign we will take the 10.01 train from Euston which arrives at Tring 10.36. The return journey will be from Berhamsted which is on the same line, one stop closer to London.

Cost Train ticket £7.25 for a group of four people travelling together, (please see below) organiser fee £5 total £12.25

What to Bring http://www.meetup.com/GO-London/pages/Kit_List%27s some snacks and water.

About the Walk 18km/12m Approx. walking time 5-6hrs please bring enough snacks to last the day, we have the option to stop in Berkhamstead for a early Sunday roast[masked]ish

This superb walk takes us from Tring station, along the undulating Ridgeway Path over Pitstone hill and up to Ivinghoe Beacon, which was once home to an Iron Age hill fort. From here we have fine views looking down into the heart of England.

We then follow the first part of the Icknield Way over the Ivinghoe hills to Duncombe terrace where we enter ancient Chiltern Beech woodland which should be in fine autumn colour. The trail then flattens out and leads us through the woodland to the Brigewater Monument where we stop at the National Trust’s Brownlow café for a break.

Continuing south on the Icknield Way through more woodland we cross the Chiltern Way over Norcot Hill and descend into Dudwell we finish with a gentle walk along the Grand Union Canal Into Berkhamsted where we can find a Pub for a Sunday roast before returning back to Euston on the train.

By signing up to this meetup you agree to the terms and conditions as set out in the pages tab at the top of the page.

Group Tickets, train times and prices.Group tickets are normally available for groups of 3 or 4 adults traveling together. As you arrive at the meeting place I will send you in groups of four to the ticket office. Please arrive early as it cannot be guaranteed that we will have complete groups of 3 or 4. In these circumstances e.g. 2 persons or less you will unfortunately have to pay full fare.

the walk was good, and Gary knows the route very well. I struggled a little as this was my first walk after many years. I did manage to finish it, so quite pleased for my achievement.
