The start of this walk takes us along the Hastings seafront,we walk past the castle to join the Saxon Shore Way. We ascend to the top of the cliffs where we will have views out to the sea and over Hastings old town and it's castle.

Entering woodland we drop down into Ecclesbourne Glen before ascending again into the Hastings Country Park. The path now undulates before descending to the beach at Fairlight Cove where we will stop for lunch.

Continuing along the coast we join the Royal Military Canal Path which takes us in land to Winchelsea. We continue to follow the canal to cross the Castle Water Nature Reserve and walk past Camber Castle.

The walk now follows the River Brede into Rye where we will have an option of stopping for a drink and food or heading home.

Thanks everyone for your great company. It was a fun day. I really enjoyed the hike, it had such a wide variety of scenery, and ending the day at the second pub in beautiful Rye was the icing on the cake. As Hanna said - this could become addictive!

I'm so sorry to have to cancel at the last moment... I woke up with a really stiff back and it doesn't seem to be getting better., so I don't think it wise to join you on the walk. I'm so gutted, as I've looking forward to this for ages! I hope someone can take my place..
