Our guilt-free* book club meets again to discuss "Wired for Story" by Lisa Cron. The author presents a compelling case that humans are "wired" for story; that it is the "root unit" of how we communicate. We sort or filter the avalanche of information coming at us for story. So, understanding the components of story, which she discusses, helps anyone wishing to get their communications heard cut through and ACTUALLY COMMUNICATE.
The book is written in the context of how a writer can better understand and employ story. But we've been knocked out at how much the book informs our use of story in business and general persuasion scenarios.
"Guilt-free means you don't need to have read the book to attend and contribute. Google the author. Watch her videos on YouTube. Bring another book on story. An interest in the topic is all you need to come with. Although, it wouldn't kill you to bring cookies!
