GROW (Greater Raleigh Outdoors & Wildlife) is a local chapter of the North Carolina Wildlife Federation. Our mission is to protect and enhance the natural resources and wildlife habitats for all to enjoy.
GROW events are a perfect combination of light exercise in the outdoors and helping your community's wildlife and natural habitats. Annual activities include a Canoe- and Kayak-a-Thon (all skill levels welcome, boats provided), two Adopt-a-Stream cleanups at Walnut Creek, Arbor Day tree plantings at various sites in Raleigh, an interactive exhibit at downtown Raleigh's Planet Earth Celebration, and participation in the National Wildlife Federation's Great Backyard Campout. In 2011, we added two new events: a Women's Fly Fishing Clinic and a Kid's Fishing Day (with instruction) -- both at Clearwater Lake in Chapel Hill. We are also considering organizing wildlife and tree identification hikes in several of our area's beautiful parks.
The board meets monthly to plan events, and anyone is welcome to attend. Our start-up chapter is actively seeking new members to help us plan events that appeal to nature and wildlife enthusiasts in the greater Raleigh area. We hope to see you at our next outing!
Also, please consider joining the NC Wildlife Federation to support our efforts. Membership is only $25 per year. The membership form is available here.
