Last Minute Thanksgiving Dinner/Potluck

Hey guys! Since I know a lot of us are new to the area and may not be headed home for Thanksgiving, I wanted to see if anyone would be interested in a potluck-style Thanksgiving dinner. I'm willing to host it at my place (right near Cameron Village).  Everyone brings a dish and we have a jolly good time!

Another option is that we could head out to a low-key restaurant and grub there. I just wouldn't want to see anyone left out on the glorious Turkey Day! Thanks everyone!

Great food with some cool people. Glad to see we could put something together at the last minute so everyone could have a nice meal.

Hey guys, figure I should give you some info on parking. My address is 1043 St. Marys St, Raleigh (see link http://imgur.com/KsJEf). There is no parking directly on St. Marys, but plenty of parking on Nichols Dr. nearby. There are also some visitor spots in the 2 parking lots indicated, but those are sometimes taken. My number is[masked] if you need any help finding the place. See you guys tomorrow and come hungry!

I have a bottle of white wine I was planning on bringing, so some red might be a nice complement to that...

Thanks for the update Yan! Sounds good. A bottle of red might be nice, depending on the kind Chris is bringing.

Just wanted to list our menu so far, so that everyone knows what we will have (and it all sounds super delicious!):

    Turkey/Stuffing/Cranberry Sauce: Jon
Mashed Potatoes/Gravy /Green Bean Casserole: Courtney
    Sweet Potato Casserole/Pumpkin Pie: Tori
    Apple Strudel: Mark
    Wine/Salad: Chris

I?m also planning on picking up some soda/water/ice as well. Yan and Praphul, let me know what you will be bringing. I?ll have parking directions posted up pretty soon! Thanks everyone!

Was planning one lone-wolfing it, but apparently all the rinks and Czech restaurants are closed! Gonna bring some freshly-baked apple strudel!

I'll bring some wine and mixed side salad (hope that's allowed for Thanksgiving!)

Please post what you are planning on bringing, so no one duplicates and we have enough food for everyone. Also, I put my address in the Meetup info, and I'll give you directions on where to park soon. See you guys on Thursday!

Hey guys! I've thought about it, and I'd really like to cook/host at my place. Here's what I'm thinking: come over around 3pm, relax and chat, maybe play some boardgames/whatever, and have dinner around 4 or so.

For food, I'll make the turkey and stuffing, and other stuff depending on what people can bring.

    Here's what we need:
    Entree (turkey, ham, etc.)
    Sides (mashed potatoes, carrots, etc.)
    Drinks (soda, wine, eggnog, etc.)
    Misc (whatever you want!)

    Gonna be a blast!

Great idea! I'd prefer cooking over a restaurant... I'm kinda traditional when it comes to Thanksgiving!

I will say, cooking up some food sounds really fun to me, but having cracker barrel feed us would be much easier. Let's see who signs up in the next day or so, and then we'll make that call. Any/all suggestion are also welcome. Thanks!

This has a list of some of the places open on Thanksgiving : http://www.triangle.com/2011/11/11/100665/restaurants-open-thanksgiving.html. All pretty pricey though. Tirnanog in Raleigh is doing a meal for $20 (once again pretty pricey). For low key, I would suggest either Cracker Barrel (http://www.crackerbarrel.com/ in Morrisville) or K&W Cafeteria (in Raleigh http://www.kwcafeterias.com/)
