Introduction to Symfony 2

For our December meetup, our good friend Guilherme Blanco will be talking about version 2 of the popular Symfony PHP Framework.  Symfony is one of PHP's most popular frameworks with a reputation for high performance, stability and ease of use.

Guilherme's presentation will start at 7:30pm, but I've scheduled this meetup for 7pm to introduce a new idea for the meetup.  Our survey revealed that most of our members would like the opportunity to have some hands-on time at meetups, and for less experienced members to ask more experienced members questions.  So feel free to come a little early with questions, or some code you'd like to review or whatever and we'll see how it goes.

If you haven't taken the survey yet, please take a few moments to let us know your thoughts by visiting http://gtaphp.org/survey.php and answering just a few questions.

Also, if you'd like to join Bernd and me at AngelHack Toronto I might still be able to get a discount code for you from Shaharris.  Check out the video they put up at http://angelhack.ca/ - this is going to be a blast.

That was a great session. I have a project that I originally built in Symfony 1 back in 2008. I was divided between porting it to Symfony 2, Rails or Django. Guilherme's talk made up my mind.

Guilherme gave a great walk through of getting started with Symfony 2 and answered many questions while doing it.

This was an excellent talk about a very powerful technology. We were lucky to have one of the key Symfony architects present this to us.

As this is our last meetup for this year, I am going to be taking a few minutes before Guilherme's presentation to give a brief "Year in Review and Looking Forward to 2013". So, if you're interested in recalling where we've been and where we are going as a group make sure you come before 7:30.
