Mini snowfalls of 2 to 4” here a dusting to 2” there will continue to deliver over the next several days. Another 2 to 5 inches was in sight for especially Thursday night with slightly more potent Clipper like system. This system appears to pull a decent amount of moisture off the all of the Great Lakes while tracking into Vermont.

It’s followed closely by another twin Alberta clipper like system just about 24 hours behind it, for some up-sloping potential on the mountain. These two “twin weather system” could deliver better than a half foot by themselves onto Jay Peak and surroundings.

A ridge of higher pressure will move in cutting off the precipitation for much of Saturday.

Another potent low pressure system could yet bring another half foot of fresh powder this Sunday January 6th. If you like powder days, Wednesday morning, much of the day Friday, and much of the day Sunday are yours, but only if you can handle it!. Average base now at Jay Peak was 20 to 50”.

Not bad; FIVE FEET of new snow in the past seven days. Mediocre snows here and there play a huge role, but when a heavyweight storm swings in for a 24 hour period and dumps 18 – 20 inches, that helps too. Enjoy. To avoid boring you with meteorological jargon and the details behind “upslope”, here is the abridged version: More snow is expected today, something to the tune of 2-3 inches –maybe more. You will be skiing or riding on 67 of 78 powdered trails. NOTE: We will open the remainder of our trails tomorrow morning, once snowmaking moves out of the Montrealer area today. All nine of our lifts are scheduled to spin today; Lower Mountain lifts at 8:00a and Upper Mountain lifts at 8:30a.

On the heels of a foot of snow this week; comes another three to four day stretch of mini snows that could produce, what forecasters are calling, a very merry Christmas for skiers and riders. Friday should be a white wake-up, as 2-4 inches is forecasted for tomorrow AM with a similar pattern continuing through the weekend. An additional 6 –12, or more, inches is forecasted by Christmas Eve.
