We are a fun group for people mostly 35 and older who would like to lose weight, have more energy, or just get healthier. Our guided walks and other outdoor activities are a great way to meet local people and to make new friends! Usually our walks and cycling rides last for about 90 minutes or less. Our focus is on walking and cycling, but we include other activities depending on the season and the interests.
Participation in our events is FREE. However, "free" does not include food purchases, travel arrangements, or fees for admission or amenities provided by other groups or organizations encountered during our events. Due to expenses for renting and maintaining the website, occasional gifts of a dollar or two to the group organizer/coordinator are welcome and appreciated.
If you have something in mind that you would like us to try, please suggest it by emailing the group organizer!
During most events when we have enough participants, a few members engage in power walking or Nordic walking, while the rest of us walk at a slower or more moderate pace. We encourage just about anyone 35 or older to join our positive and supportive group whether your pace is fast or average. Our members come from all walks of life, but we all share the desire to keep our bodies moving and to make new friends by engaging with nature and fresh air.
The paths we follow are generally not very confusing, so that a person can turn back if getting overly tired, though we would love to have you complete the entire walk with us. We're sorry, but it is not advisable to have small children accompany you since they will likely be unable to maintain even our moderate pace.
Walks are on regularly used trails; however, winter maintenance is not always provided on some trails. The terrain may be steep and some surfaces will be uneven. Walks may be cancelled or shortened due to heavy precipitation or unsafe weather conditions. Please bear in mind that all members participate at their own risk.
