I was most influenced by Ajahn Brahm, a monk in Perth, Australia. I was doing a teacher exchange for a year and a friend invited my to go to the temple. His talks, sense of humor and guidance in meditation completely changed my life. He cleared up many of my misconceptions about Buddhism and Buddhist monks. I have practiced Buddhism on my own and luckily I found him on You Tube because I was really missing his wisdom. I also enjoy Pema Chodrun, who seems to have some of the same issues that I have and she helped me deal with them in a Buddhist way.
I am a retired teacher of children with emotional disturbances I grew up with an abusive parent andI was very lucky to find Buddhism because it helped my understand myself and to create loving kindness towards people who have difficult behaviors.
