July Front-end Developers Meetup

Note: We're switching the format to 1 hour-long talk + 1 or 2 lightning talks, + some discussion on whatever.

Long talk: Matt Stauffer (@stauffermatt) is going to present on Ionic Framework.

Lightning talk 1: Mike Herchel (@mikeherchel) will present on Jquery Waypoints.

Lightning talk 2: TBD

Potential discussion topics:

• Several of us went to http://frontenddesignconference.com/st-pete the past weekend. We can talk about this and other conferences/topics

• When and why to use JavaScript MVC frameworks such as Ember, Angular. What problem does this solve?

Afterwards, we'll head across the streets to our favorite pub to wash away our code with beer. :)

Hey guys, thanks for the warm welcome last week. Here's the kickstarter page for the project you so graciously let me talk about: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/215621479/soil-next-web-framework

Daniel it was great hearing what you've been working on. Would you be interested in giving a more in depth talk next month on it?

Hey, anyone here have enough PHP chops to help me fix a captcha issue on a webpage? I need two things - remove the captcha from the registration page and remove the validation that looks for the valid response from the captcha. A paid gig. Email me privately [masked]

Shucks guys, I had a death in the family last week and will have to miss this week's meetup. I really hate to miss a Stauffer Brand presentation!

Eran: Should be getting here tomorrow! My plan is to just hook it up (should work out of the box) and then use Quicktime to do the screenrecording (because it can do that!)

This would be my first time joining you guys. What exactly should I be looking forward to?

    July 17, 2014

    • Mike H.

the answer is, yes you can bring your own, but you have to use it on Doug first.

The hazing ritual, although apparently we are not supposed to disclose this, is that you must code up from scratch a responsive webpage without the benefit of any libraries while being heckled. If you bring your own paddle, we will use that as well.

I always seem to have conflicting events and have been unable to attend...though I am interested. Would it be possible now or in future to record the talks at least?

    July 17, 2014

    • April F.

Would have been good to see you again. Hope all is well :-)

Yeah, I actually ordered a new microphone just to start recording these. So, assuming everything goes well, it will be recorded!

I think that was me. I had a tech problem to work out using the ImageMapster JS library. I would like to wait until August though. Too much going on now.
