Guilty pleasures: Anne McCaffrey, Morgan Llywelyn, Frank Herbert Serious reads: Nabokov, the Brontes (OK, minus Branwell), Austen, Jeannette Winterson I also collect cookbooks, although I've had to slow that down in the last year or so after they began to take up far too many bookshelves.
This is tough - I've mostly read far more than my fair share of guilty pleasure/sci-fi/fantasy novels in the past year or so. I'd say two novels that really stuck with me were Serena, by Ron Rash, and the Orchardist, by Amanda Coplin. In the last couple of years, I've also read the first six or seven books in Agatha Christie's Miss Marple series, many of Anne McCaffrey's Pern novels, and all of the Song of Ice and Fire novels that are out so far.
I'm Lauren. Years ago, in college, I considered myself a book snob, but I've since given that up and admitted that I enjoy sci-fi, fantasy, many YA novels, and (gasp) even the occasional Oprah's book club selection.
