WE'RE BACK, BABY!!
I apologize for the late notice on this, but the good folks at Game Theory have asked me to help them bring back the Iron Painter competition at the store, and I have kindly obliged. We've changed up the timing a bit for this one (and future ones as well). It's no longer a 5-6 month long competition. We're keeping it down to a single one-month-long round, in hopes that it will allow more people to participate, since it doesn't require nearly the time commitment of the original. All the relevant info is below.
4-1-1: This is a painting competition in which painters will be given a theme and must create a miniature masterpiece that fits that theme.
• Any number of figures, any scale, any manufacturer (including scratch-built) is fair game. Whatever it takes to bring your vision to life.
• One entry per painter, up to a maximum size of 6”x6”x6”.
• Each entry will be scored on its use of the Theme (5 points), Technical Quality/Difficulty (5 points), and Overall Aesthetic (10 points). The winner is whoever has the highest total score.
• Any ties will go to whoever has the highest score in Theme. If it’s still tied, the judges will vote on a winner.
• One entry per painter.
Date/Duration: Competition starts on October 1, when the theme is announced. The theme will be announced first via email to participants, and will be given to latecomers when they pay to register. A week later it will be posted in the store, so no waiting until you know what the theme is before deciding to enter. Paint like you gotta pair! All entries are due at Game Theory by the time the store closes on October 29th. That’s exactly 4 weeks to get your entry done. The winner will be announced during the festivities at Game Theory on October 31st. Unlike previous Iron Painter Challenges, THIS IS A SINGLE ROUND COMPETITION. One and done, folks, so make your entry count!
Cost: $10, payable to Game Theory at the front register. BE SURE to leave your email address when you register, as this is how we’ll be sending out theme information!
Prizes: Reaper’s Kaladrax the Dire Drake, standing 8.5” tall, with a wingspan of 12.5”. A $70 value! There may also be gift certificates, depending on turnout. Note: Kaladrax comes unpainted and unassembled. Do your own work, slacker!
