Develop a geotag/geocache scavenger hunt game?

As the warmer season finally hits Boston, I was wondering if anyone wants to collaborate on developing a scavenger hunt game using geotagging and geocaching elements. This include geotag features you can find on many apps, such as Facebook and Instagram, but there are other sites, such as Findery, where you can post photos with embedded geotag data or simply add your photo to a map.

Other elements to the scavenger hunt can include the use of QR codes at each scavenger hunt destination point, either to reveal a hidden message, point to the next location, or direct a person to a prize.

The goal for this group is to develop and implement a map of scavenger hunt locations, fill those locations with content and "goodies", and then later disseminate the map/activity for everyone in the Boston area to try out.

Hi guys! I'm so sorry this didn't work out! I completely forgot we had it and it sounds like other people did too- we'll try again, hopefully to more success. I'm so sorry to have dragged you out to the Peach Farm Eax and Guy, I owe you guys drinks!!

Sorry, but it seems like the meetup was not successful tonight. Apparently due to some confusion, it seems folks did not get to Peach Farm at the specified time. I had a quick chat with Kellian tonight regarding this, so we might have to rethink things a bit first. Please check back on the main page for follow-up. Thanks!

I still think this is a great idea, but weekends are now when I get the majority of my ground work done. Be well friends!

Now that we switched to Wednesday, you're free to attend?

Hello everyone, just a friendly reminder that we are finally doing the meetup at Peach Farm in Chinatown. I guess we can wait out front at the entrance to get a critical mass before going downstairs. I think most folks know Kellian, so she could be your familiar face.

Hello everyone, had to change the date to WEDNESDAY, Oct. 9th. Same location with Peach Farm, which we used for last month's meetup (which went very successfully). Please comment about the changes in date/time!

Peach Farm does not really work as a location for 2PM. I know Kellian also suggested 7PM as an alternate time, but I personally cannot make it to 7PM. Are a majority of folks prefer an evening meetup instead?

No worries, summers are so busy. I don't know how you guys would feel about this- but I've been meaning to have a "launch event" for the Edventure Builder and I want to get a ton of people to play- hopefully in November. If you guys would be up for helping me build the game, I bet we could get an "awards" location for an afterparty and make it a whole thing. No worries if that's a little restrictive and you'd rather just build a game -- I realize it would be me co-opting your talents and good natures for my evil purposes!! :) Wanna meet OCt 5th to start brainstorming? Would people be free at 2 or should we make it later, like 7?

Sorry that this suggested event has languished. Since people are already have discussions on their own, I think the idea can still be implemented, albeit we are now talking about fall in Boston. I've set the proposed date, but folks should chime in if a better date or time is available. However, still need a host for this event!

life is a blur right now till Boston FIG (are you all going?) as I get my games ready for demoing. However, Oct 5th sounds like a good starting point for sure.

Hey is this still on?? Let's pick a date and do this! How about October 5th?

Oh- and we can use the Edventure Builder as a platform if you want, it's super flexible and I've been wanting to explore what it can do with letterboxing and geocache games.

If I can make it to a meeting I'd be happy to offer design input, but with Boston FIG only 45 days away I'm going to be pretty much full on getting our current game lineup ready for the festival
