What Next?

I will not be running Pathfinder during our Friday night sessions, and beyond that, I would like to take a break from GMing for a while.  Anyone have a game they want to run for our group?  Maybe invite other people? Or should we let this drop for a while?

As this is a home campaign, it is not open to new players, and this meetup is simply for us to gauge attendance.  Please, if you are not already a player in this campaign, do no sign up.

Thank you all for a great game! It was a pleasure meeting all of you. I can't remember the last time I gm'd this large a group, but it was a blast!

Looks like no Wendi or Katie, and Eric RSVPed No, so this should be it for tonight.

Since it's Wednesday, and this is quickly approaching, I'd like to look into some of the content a little deeper. I have a collection of 2nd edition e-books, but is that what I should be looking at? Is there a different website or PDF I should search for?

Just printed the rule book and a few extra character sheets if we make a lot of mistakes.

I figure the best way to decide if you like a game is to play it, so let's dive into a session and see what everyone thinks. Looking forward to meeting all of you tonight!

My suggestion would be to either do something more episodic, like Pathfinder Society. I don't really want to go back to LFR, or anything D&D related but if the consensus moves that way I could reactivate my account. My other suggestion would be an old WoD game in the Vampire: Dark Ages setting or trying the Song of Ice and Fire RPG (which uses a mini six rule set I think?), since that's what I'm into, but I'm not sure that's really appealing to everyone.

The only other thought I had was maybe using WoW TCG or Magic the Gathering cards to create an RPG of some kind? I had kicked the idea around some months ago but let it drop.

And the simplicity runs both ways. In earlier versions of D&D (Basic, AD&D), it was often easier for a GM to change course or make adjustments without holding up the game. In 3, 3.5, PF, 4, where everything is very "tooled," even coming up with suitable bad guys can be difficult, and forget about trying to make changes to things on the fly!

I think that's a really good point, Vernon. My husband always tries to reinforce that idea with some of our other groups. Even if your character isn't the thinker or the face, as a player you might have an idea or a question that someone else could expand on.

I see this is a home game and not open to new players however, I'm an old-school gm looking for a group of players. Depending on players' choice, I run the Basic Fantasy RPG (a B/X retroclone) or Swords & Wizardry (a close to AD&D retroclone). If you need someone to gm and this interests you, please contact me.

Simple can be fun. I wouldn't mind giving either game a shot. :-)

We've always run the game at a local store (Dark Tower, then Mighty Titans, now AIO). See you Friday.
