Hex and counter wargames

A day to play old-style wargames; the ones with hexes all over the map, cardboard counters, and just one die! Break out your old SPI and Avalon Hill wargames, or new ones (yes, they're still making them!) and bring them on by. I'll be bringing OGRE/GEV (Steve Jackson), Tactics II (Avalon Hill), and Invasion: America (SPI), but we can all bring our favorites and figure out what to play once we're there. When you RSVP, if you have any games you're planning on bringing, or any that you would especially like to play, please mention it!

Who knows? If this turns out to be a hit, we might just make it a semi-regular thing...

Great get together with some great people. Looking forward to doing it again. Hopefully we can get more people to attend and extend the variety of games begin played.

Thanks for organizing this meetup Joe. My son and I had a great time. Can not wait until we do it again. I'll put together a list of the games I have and post it to an area all can see so we can pick some games for the next meeting and be a little more prepared.

I had a terrific time playing some of the old games with folks who could appreciate them (and some new blood as well!). We ended up playing a couple of games of Tactics II, Napoleon's Last Battles, and ended with a Starfire scenario. Great stuff, and I'm hoping to turn this into a regular event.

An excellent meet, lots of fun with a great bunch of Grognards! So, when's the next one?

There's a >0 change a good friend of mine may be attending also. He'll be driving himself up, though. Figured a heads up may be useful though I don't know a yes or no for him yet.

I don't have experience with many of the games but I'd like to try. I used to love playing Conquest of the Empire and still have new and old versions if anyone else likes it too. I also have a similar type game called Blood Feud in New York which I've never even played. Anyways, hope I can make it when something is scheduled.

I would be down for a weekend of Axis and Allies too. I've rarely played a game through to the end.

I'll rather shamefully admit that I've never given these a try. I'd be interested in coming along to at least watch what's going on at first, anyway. Dates and places might be tough for me, but if I can attend I'm sure I would on occasion.

I'm up for anything, Joe. It's been so long since I've played any of these games that I'll be learning all over again, so whatever you are most excited about.

This is an all-new type of game for me. I'll try! Probably look like a bloody right twit doing it, but...

I would be very interested, but it depends on when and where.

Andy-- any games in particular? We could start simple, with Tactics II, and work our way up.

I am still trying to figure out how we could get together and play some of those games, but life just keeps interferring! Between my daughter finally recovering from shoulder surgery to my wife now recovering from a broken leg, it has been non-stop supporting the family for the last 8 months. I would really like to get back to those 100+ SPI and Avalon Hill games I have, especially since I have the space available to keep some of the longer ones set up for a period of time.

It depends on when we could schedule it. I'm very interested, but it all depends on when we could do it.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
