My garden is around 1/4 acre in a troubled neighborhood in North Sacramento. I have some fruit trees and many raised beds that I create with sheet compost. I love all the seasons in Sacramento because you can grow food all year round. Even though I've been gardening since I was a child I find there's so much more to learn.
I've been a visual artist for a long time. I do a lot of ceramic sculpture and pottery. I also like drawing with charcoal. I actually supported myself for a number of years as an artist, even without going commercial and selling out. I started the garden project in 2008 partly as a reaction to the recession and the actions that caused it. I also am doing it as way to make a small positive difference for the environment. I can do this because I grow food intensively without polluting, using locally collected materials. I sell to restaurants only ten minutes away at the most.
Hi my name is Robert and I'm a gardening fanatic! I love it so much that I'm figuring out how to do it all the time. So I call my garden an urban farm and have turned it into a business. I want to live in an urban paradise!
