GP Team Volunteer Project - 01/19/13 9:30AM GP System Build - 40th St & Southern

  • January 19 · 9:30 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

Join us at a Garden Pool Meetup member's private residence for our latest design and volunteer project, a GP System build!

We are looking for volunteers to help a fellow GP Meetup member build their system so they can grow food the GP way.

This GP System that is to be built was designed for the nonprofit Establishing Roots and will include:

  • Tilapia Pond in deep end of pool
  • Aquaponic Greenhouse
  • Collects rain water
  • Totally organic
  • Use 90% less water than conventional farming methods

Materials for the project will be provided.

We will be building this ambitious project and we could really use your help!

We could use volunteers to help build and tools for the volunteers.

Tools are needed for volunteers:

  • Cordless or Corded Drills
  • Driver Bits and Drill Bits.
  • Reciprocating Saws
  • Circular Saws or Power Miter Saws.
  • Sawhorses
  • Extension Cords
  • Tin Snips
  • Utility Knives
  • Tape Measures
  • Writing Utensils
  • Shovels
  • Wheel Barrels
  • Gloves
  • Hammers

We will provide restrooms & water for all volunteers.

You don't have to bring tools or donate materials, we can use plenty of hands. We greatly appreciate your time and we look forward to seeing the GP regulars and new faces at our next exciting volunteer project! RSVP's are limited so please only RSVP if you are definitely going to attend.

Thanks,

-The Garden Pool Team

It was amazing. Again thank you all. It is the most wonderful structure made. I walk out to just marvel at it. Not just because it is finally built, a dream since June, but because so many people came together to help. Truly amazing.

When will photos be posted? Sad I couldn't stay to see the "roof raised." Such great leadership, keeping everyone on task. Nice to meet so many nice people.

Great project. I thought things went really well, especially considering how many "garden-pool virgins" (like me) were there. It's nice to work with others willing to give suggestions and take others' suggestions. I found that in abundance at today's build.

Very fun work-day! Though the day went a tad longer than planned we accomplished much in a very short amount of hours. I had a great time!

WOW! Thank you everyone who made it out today and volunteered for a great project. We really appreciate everyone's help to make the new GP a reality. It was also great to meet new folks and get to know returning visitors a little better. Thanks again everybody!

I couldn't make this build but I'm highly intersted in participating in a future one. I have framing tools and cordless drills too.

    Hi there,

I am really interested in attending your workshop this Saturday, however I was wondering if you had a phone number I could contact you on. Me and my permaculture class from Prescott college would love to come out, volunteer, and learn a little about aquaponics. Feel free to call me at [masked] or email me at [masked]. Thanks so much!!!

Call Garden Pool anytime at [masked]. We would be happy to have the volunteers and teach you about aquaponics. We also have private tours and classes by Garden Pool.

Hello! I want to volunteer for this project though I am wondering if I can come closer to 11am? I have 2 toddlers that need me in the morning. I see the time is set until 1:30 though I am wondering if this will go longer and if I can still be of help even if I come a couple hours late. Thanks!

Stop by when you can. We can use all the help we can get!
