We'll head to the Waterloo Tap after the concert (or, if that looks too busy, to the Brewdog pub in Waterloo station) for a drink or two. - Duke Bluebeard's Castle (ENO)London Coliseum, London
In the mind’s darkest corners, a shadow waits. As Judith unlocks room after room in the castle of her new husband, Duke Bluebeard, we follow her deeper and deeper into the recesses of his troubled imagination.
A masterpiece by composer Bela Bartok, the opera is as taut and gripping as a thriller: a study of an obsessive, violent man and an allegory of the battle of the sexes.
Presented as a semi-staged concert performance with mezzo-soprano Allison Cook (Judith) and bass John Relyea (Bluebeard), the production is sung in Hungarian (the original language), with English surtitles.

Seats start at £15.25 (incl. booking fees). You can buy tickets here: https://tickets.eno.org/events/duke%20bluebeard's%20castle/2024-3-21_19.30/london%20coliseum?hallmap. If you'd like to sit near me, I'm in Upper Circle seat F35.Please only sign up once you have booked your ticket.
This is a short single-act opera, and will finish around 8:45. We will go for drinks afterwards at the Chandos pub, which is next to the Coliseum at the south end of St Martin's Lane. I am also happy to meet for a drink/sandwich before the opera, if anyone would like.
