El Rio is a San Francisco institution, it has been around for decades, and it shines on Sunday afternoons because its back patio is glorious! They have been longtime supporters of the local community and queer charities.
The crowd is mixed, straight and queer, and everyone is there to relax in the sun and have a good time.
Stop by Taqueria Cancun across the street to pick up some food, and bring it here (yes that's fine) to enjoy with a Bloody Mary (they have a Bloody Mary bar). Sometimes they invite food vendors to the patio, so you may not even need to go elsewhere for food.
The bar opens at 1pm, so we will be among the first people there to claim our space under the sun.
For those who want to stick around, beginner salsa lessons start at 3:15pm and a live salsa band starts playing at 4pm!
See you there!
