Traditionally October is the time of the year when the "veil is thinest between the worlds," when the seasons are changing and the dying of the crops and plants reminds us of our own mortality. It's a time for seeing through our individual personas by realizing that what we are is mostly masks we put on for other people. Halloween is the occasion for changing the masks--for fun and wisdom--to remind us of who we really are deep down inside. Winter is coming; it's a time of rest, meditation and introspection. For most of us, from childhood the end of October has been a special and magical time of the year. Let's share some of our recollections, personal mythologies and insights into the cycles of the seasons. Regular member Brooks has offered to lead a guided meditation for Samhain (the Wiccan/neo-pagan name for the festival). It'll be an interesting conversation. Please join us.
There is no charge for the Gay Spirit MeetUp Group meetings, though we are asked to spend some money at the coffee bar at Genuine Joe's--so be sure to tell the people serving you coffees, cold drinks, cookies, snacks, etc that you're with the MeetUp. And please plan to arrive five or ten minutes early to get something from the snack bar AND to be on time. We always begin with introductions and if you arrive late we're liable not to get to learn your name and who you are.
