Members STEVE & RAMIRO's Annual HALLOWEEN PARTY in Whittier Hills
In the Halloween spirit, Steve & Ramiro, two of our longer term and most loyal members, are inviting our members to their annual Whittier Hills Halloween party. They live in a wonderful early 1960's era Mid-Century modern home (reminiscent of the contemporary home of Rosalind Russell in the iconic movie classic "Auntie Mame") high in the Whittier hills (they even occasionally have wild deer in their backyard in broad daylight). Though they have generously hosted Gay Winos parties in the past, this one will be special because it celebrates the completion of their updated kitchen which Ramiro helped design and will make their entertaining less of a nightmare.
The guys will provide some goodies, but are asking that guests bring wine and also some type of shareable late night appetizer or dessert (especially finger food, dip, pies, etc.). In the Halloween spirit, this is a costume party, althought the costume is not mandatory, but could help you win the contest! Perhaps you can be inspired to be a Food Network-related celebrity chef (such a Paula Deen) or a wine expert sommeliers since they have a new kitchen.
Out of fairness to other members of our group who attend, PLEASE BRING AT LEAST ONE SHAREABLE FOOD ITEM--even if you need to stop by a supermarket deli--or kindly refrain from attending and eating the food that others bring or you may be rightfully named a "vampire" moocher (and we have had some moochers in the past!
For those of you who have seen the iconic film classic "Auntie Mame" from the 50's (which Outfest screens every holiday season), the entrance of their house seems to share a lot of parallels with Auntie Mame's home (though more "butch" of course). FYI--though Whittier Hills to some might seems like the other side of the world, the freeway drive time from downtown L.A. is only about 20-25 minutes via the 5 or 60 freeways to the 605 depending upon traffic.
You can see most of the greater L.A. basin from their hillside backyard so their home is a perfect observation point to see breathtaking nighttime vistas of L.A. County. Easy street parking can be found nearby, but you are asked to pace your drinking because we want to ensure everyone's safety--particularly with the drive back to Los Angeles. If you drink a little too much, they might let you crash on on their modular den sofa (or at least cat nap to allow some of the vino to dissipate from your sexy bodies).
- [Note: Jono might not attend this event since he already is hosting another Halloween movie screening event at Barnsdall Park in Hollywood for his other Meetup group--the TCM Classic Movie Fan Club Of Los Angeles--this same night that was planned a month and a half ago, but Steve & Ramiro are great hosts].
