Social Networking that reflects the real world
People LOVE to see how things develop in our social network on MeetUp.com. They like to plan ahead by watching which events pop up months in the future. They also love to see which ones of their friends are attending. The UnSceners find it especially helpful that the groups are always medium size. They feel it reduces social anxiety and allows time for everyone to get to know each other. This is all possible because people accurately update their RSVPs for events.
What's it take to become an UnScener?
UnScene is not a popularity contest based on looks. This group is not for everyone, but it could be for YOU! If you read about how our group operates with an inclusive and intimate culture you will most likely adjust to it quickly. The UnScene culture is a stark difference from the Bar Scene. We are trying to bridge the gap so people can function in both environments in a healthy way.

If you read about how our group operates with an inclusive and intimate culture you will most likely adjust to it quickly. The UnScene culture is a stark difference from the Bar Scene. We are trying to bridge the gap so people can function in both environments in a healthy way. Our mantra is "Get Into the Express Lane to a Better Mood! Only 15 people or less can fit into the cart." This means the head count on events is medium sized with a maximum amount of 15 people which helps us stay true to our mission and values.

The Pittsburgh Gay UnScene Mission
☆ To unite the Pittsburgh Gay (LGBTQIA) Community inside and outside of the bar scene through showcasing different venues to encourage friendships based on mutual interests that go beyond food or alcohol
☆ To create a social environment that's comforting, inclusive, and intimate through continually doing outreach to the community, hosting multiple events each week, limiting the total number of people admitted to each event, and keeping it platonic.
☆ To provide affordable event admission through limiting cost to less than $20, hosting many free events, and fundraising to offset costs.
☆ To help friends sync up schedules through providing a calendar of events at least one month in advance.
