San Gabriel Valley Bicycle Ride through 9 Cities (30 miles)
This 30 mile bike ride starts at Velo Pasadena Bike Shop in Pasadena, CA. We'll go west and then south through San Marino and through a host of other little cities dotting the San Gabriel Valley. After a short break at Encanto Park in Duarte we'll ride into the foothill cities of the San Gabriel Valley. We'll have a brief food stop before returning to the Velo Pasadena Bike Shop.
BIKE RIDE QUALIFICATIONS:
This ride is for bike riders who are comfortable riding on streets and small rolling hills with small climbs with one longer ride back up to Sierra Madre. The ride is 30 miles at a speed of 12 miles per hour.
ABOUT THE RIDE:
This is an AIDS/LifeCycle training ride sponsored by Different Spokes Southern California Bicycle Club, and everyone is welcome to attend. For more information CLICK HERE.
All AIDS/LifeCycle road rules must be followed by everyone attending, and you must sign their waiver form.
MEETING PLACE AND TIME:
We will meet in the parking lot behind Velo Pasadena Bike Shop, 2562 East Colorado Boulevard at South Virginia Avenue, Pasadena, CA at 8:30AM. There will be a mandatory safety presentation at 8:45AM. We will depart promptly at 9:00AM.

PLEASE ADHERE TO THE FOLLOWING RULES:
RSVP: If your plans changed and you're not coming please change your RSVP to "No" so we are not expecting you.
HELMET: Please be advised that you are required to wear a helmet to ride with our group.
SPARE TIRE TUBES: Please bring two spare tire tubes in case you get flat tires, and make sure your tires are properly inflated. Also bring a patch kit, tire levers, and a small bike pump or CO2 cartridges.
MONEY: A taxi charges plenty of money if you need one to pick you up and drive you back to your car if you have a flat tire and you don't have tubes to replace your flat tire or a patch kit. Also please bring sufficient CASH to cover your lunch.
BIKE LOCK: Do not leave your bicycle unlocked at any time. Please bring your own bicycle lock.
WATER and FOOD: It's going to be hot so make sure you bring water to drink and electrolyte replacements so you don't get dehydrated. Also bring a power bar or other food to eat in case you get hungry.
TRAFFIC LAWS: Please follow all the rules of the road including using hand signals for turns and stopping, and yelling out your intention. Also stop at all stop lights and stop signs by stopping all forward motion and placing one foot on the ground before proceeding. Ride single file and leave at least one bike length between you and the rider in front of you in case they make a sudden stop. Look behind you before passing or changing lanes to make sure it is clear. Pass only when it is safe to do so and pass only on the left. When passing, call out loudly, "On your left!"
IF YOU MUST STOP OR LEAVE THE RIDE: Please tell the last person who is riding in the group, and also call the ride leader on his cell phone immediately so we know your intentions.
AIDS LIFE CYCLE TRAINING RIDE REQUIREMENTS:
Bike (In safe and good working order)
2 Water Bottles (1 with hydration/electrolyte mix)
Snacks (energy bars are good and quick!)
Obey all rules of the road including stopping at all stop signs and signals.
