Beginners, Intermediates, and Advanced Riders

We invite all bicycle riders to enjoy a day on the beach bike path from Marina del Rey to Redondo.  Beginners who are just getting out there as well as advanced riders please join us. This ride is crossposted on other Meetup groups. We are joining with the West L.A. Cycling Club for this ride. Come out and make new friends!

THE BICYCLE RIDE:

The bike path from Marina del Rey to Redondo is 12 miles one way and mostly flat. This is an easy bicycle ride, and it is fine for those just starting out or more advanced riders.  You can ride any part of the bike path on any kind of bike. No one will be left behind. Our friendly members will inspire and coach you! After arriving at Redondo, we will stop for lunch on our ride back.

MEETING TIME:

We will meet at the front row of the DOCK 52 Parking Lot at 10:00AM and ride out at 10:30AM.  Please arrive early by about 9:30AM so you have time to set up and can be ready to go on time.  Look for us in the first row of the parking lot. Click here to SEE A MAP SHOWING where DOCK 52 is.

PARKING:

FREE PARKING is available at the DOCK 52 Parking Lot which is located at 13509 Fiji Way, Marina Del Rey, CA 90292.

BICYCLE RENTAL:

If you don't have a bicycle you can rent one in Fisherman's Village which is just a short walk from the DOCK 52 parking lot at

Daniel's Bicycle Rentals

13737 Fiji Way

Marina Del Rey, CA 90292

Telephone: (310)[masked]

Daniel's Bicycle Rentals opens at 9:00AM so please be there when the shop opens if you need to rent a bike because they get very busy.

INTERMEDIATE AND ADVANCED RIDERS, PLEASE COME DOWN AND HELP A BEGINNER!

If you are an intermediate or advanced cyclist we urge you to come out, share your experience and help a beginner. Today we will be riding with the group.

IMPORTANT NOTES

Please ensure that you are in good health before participating and understand that there is risk involved in bicycling on the road or on a bike path. You can get hurt. Event organizers assume no responsibility for you. We are simply "ride buddies," nothing more. If you choose to participate, you assume all responsibility for yourself and your equipment. You agree not to hold anyone responsible nor our Meetup group liable in any way.

WHAT TO BRING

  • Always wear a helmet when biking. This is mandatory, no exceptions.
  • Make sure your bike is in good working condition. Inflate your bike's tires properly, and lubricate your bike's chain.
  • Bring at least one spare tire tube or two if possible in case of a flat tire.
  • If you have a tool kit, pump, CO2, or first aid kit, bring them.
  • Bring energy bars, snacks and enough water to drink for the ride.

I did the bike ride today. The beach area got extremely foggy, cold, and wet this afternoon. Brrrrr.... Hope the weather is nicer for you tomorrow. Enjoy:)
