Sanatana Dharma Satsang, Inc., is the religious organization sponsoring the Gayatri Temple in Beaverton. See DharmaSatsang.org It is a tax deductible 501(c)3 religious organization, tax ID 95-4851661.
The name Sanatana Dharma Satsang is a Sanskrit phrase that, loosely translated, means the ancient law/right path gathering of people together to learn and share spiritual teachings. Sanatana Dharma is the correct name for "Hinduism."
More specifically, Sanatana Dharma Satsang is a nonprofit organization that teaches and promotes:
* The practice of ancient wisdom techniques, including especially mantras, pujas/yajnas (religious rituals,) and meditative disciplines from the Vedic and Tibetan Buddhist traditions. The goals of such practice include enlightenment, prosperity, and healing on all levels of the body, mind and spirit. Another important goal is the ability to help other people to also experience such benefits.
* Respect and understanding for all the world's great spiritual traditions, in the sure faith that although their specific doctrines may differ, their deepest essence comes from the same divine well of inspiration. In the words of Sadguru Sant Keshavadas, "Truth is One, many are the names."
*Sanatana Dharma Satsang is currently certifying Mantra Instructors, Pujaris and Priests, after they complete specified course work and pass a written and oral exam.
We welcome everyone: members of other faith traditions, male, female, LGBT, single, partnered, all skin colors and ages.
Sanatana Dharma Satsang's founders are Thomas Ashley-Farrand (Namadeva Acharya,) 1940-2010, one of the Western world's foremost authorities on the application of Sanskrit Mantra to life's problems and his wife, Satyabhama. In December 2008 in India and again at the Gayatri Temple in June 2009, Satguru Rama Mata gave Namadeva Acharya and Satyabhama empowerments (diksha) to be a guru in her lineage, founded by her and Sadguru Sant Keshavadas of Bangalore, India. For more information about Satyabhama and Namadeva, See www.sanskritmantra.com
Namadeva Acharya and Satyabhama have led 3 Pilgrimage Tours to India since 2005, meeting with the Shankaracharyas at Kanchi, Sri Sri Jayendra and Vijayendra. The tour also visits our lineage ashram, Vishwa Shanti near Bangalore and many other sites between S. India and 10,000' in the Himalayas. The next trip in May 2014 will emphasize Goddess temples. For more information, see www.sanskritmantra.com
From 1982-2006, in California, Namadeva Acharya and Satyabhama received empowerments from Kalu Rimpoche, the Dalai Lama and Sakya Jetsun Chiney Luding (Jetsun Ma), an eminent woman guru from Tibet. They moved to Oregon in early 2006 and opened the Gayatri Temple in June 2007.
Satguru Rama Mata, our lineage-holder, gave programs and initiations and blessed the temple in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012. She will be giving programs again in Summer 2013.
