Gayatri Ceremony for New Year's Celebration

  • January 1, 2013 · 2:15 PM
  • Gayatri Temple

We will do a Puja and mini Fire Ceremony on New Year's Eve, then we share veggie nonalcohol food and drink. Please bring flowers and fruit as an offering.

At the ceremony, each person will be able to put a list of those things they want to get rid of and those things to bring in for the New Year into the fire, using a wok. Without a fireplace at the Temple, the rest of the puja will be a water ceremony, and each person will have a chance to pour several water offerings (abhisheka) to our beautiful, large Gayatri Murthi, shown in our Meetup photo.

The Gayatri is a symbol of bringing the universal light of enlightenment to us through the five major devis: Lakshmi (abundance,) Saraswati (learning, music, art,) Durga (protection,) Radha/Hladini (bliss of union with God,) Bhu (Earth Goddess.)

The energy of this ceremony stimulates all of our chakras and brings us inner light--a great way to start the New Year! Please bring some vegetarian food to share.

We look forward to celebrating the New Year with you. This New Year will be one to celebrate especially, as the energy will be more expansive in January because of the placement of Jupiter in Taurus, and odd numbered years are more expansive

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
