Going as a spectator. Maybe I can get talked into a game.

That should be fine. Others likely will be and if not there are plenty of others to help show you the ropes. Might try to get there a couple minutes early though to help shore up the instructions.

Is it cool to go as a somewhat noob? If not can one go spectate?

If into more BSG, do check this out...
AFAIK, it's easier to first see how many ppl are into the game, THEN set the date/time + venue as opposed to the other way around

    That's right, I did say I'd do that didn't I?

IHOP is very cool about letting us stay for several hours during the middle of the night, which is why I don't want to start it too early like 8 or even 9...they do need most of their tables in the late evening.

Let's move this one up to 10pm, but I really don't want to go earlier than that. Also, I'll be setting up beforehand, this will be the 3/4 length game, and I will be stricter about keeping us on task. I am aiming for this to go no later than[masked]

Just a heads up, the time's still listed as 11pm, not 10pm. Also, I'd prefer to avoid the 3/4 game. It doesn't necessarily reduce the number of jumps, which would still result in the same game length. Also, I know we had this discussion before, but despite initial impressions, the game just can't be "scaled down" like that.

Great Andrew & Andrew. I'll bring my copy with the expansion just incase Andrew can't make it. :-)

Oh terrific! Then we have room for 13 for certain, and potentially as many as 20!

If Andrew is infact able to attend, we'll have enough space for 13.

Forgot to mention, I can bring my copy. If no1 minds playing with at least the Pegasus expansion, it can do up to 7p

I'm surprised that they let people bring a board game into a restaurant. Do they have any questions about people there for hours? or is this just after bg?

The employees don't seem to care. I can't speak to what other people did, but I left a 40% tip to thank them for the "booth rental".

Another important thing is that for the Teaism at Alexandria and this IHOP, there were MANY empty tables then, so it wasn't like we were keeping other patrons from dining. The Teaism at L'Enfant plaza OTOH... that one ALWAYS had a full house.

Andrew, I thought you said the next game of Battlecakes would be earlier in the evening? :( Maybe we could start at 8 or 9 PM? Pleeeeeeeeeeease? Pretty please, with cream and sugar and a cherry on top? Starting a 5-6 hour game at 11 PM makes people crabby towards the end of the game at 5 AM.

Since this is a month off, I'll double check when the date gets closer of my availability.
