Smithsonian Seminar: A Slice of Pi

Want to celebrate Pi Day 2014 (actually, it'll be Pi Month -- 3/14!) with Smithsonian? This event sounds like fun. $25/members, $30/non-members.

Details from registration page (http://smithsonianassociates.org/ticketing/tickets/reserve.aspx?performanceNumber=227623):

March 14 is celebrated worldwide as Pi Day. Pi, of course, is the symbol used in mathematics to represent a constant—the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter. It translates into approximately[masked], give or take a few billion digits. Factor in that March 14 is also Albert Einstein’s birthday, and Pi Day translates into the equivalent of the combination of the Fourth of July and Christmas for math and science fans.

Celebrate Pi Day in style at the Smithsonian with science educator Anna Quider, a physics Nerd Nite host. Math-focused trivia, challenges, and explorations of how buttoned-up math overlaps with the flashier worlds of art and music are part of the equation, as well as plenty of surprises. Grab a slice of pie (of course), a beer, or glass of wine, and toast to the day that adds up to plenty of fun.
