Valentines with Friends

Valentine's Day aka SAD Day (Single's Awareness Day) is upon us and for those of us who don't have a boyfriend, girlfriend, spouse, etc. let's not stay at home watching hallmark ODing on junk and let's get together and have some fun. :-)

**This is not a "single's event" if you happen to hit it off with someone that's fine but the purpose of this event is to just go out as friends and have fun.**

For activities we're going to be watching a movie Mystery Science Theater 3000 style, and for those who want to we can play games afterwards. We will be watching the 1960's film "The Lost World."

If you bring food or drink to share with the group you do NOT have to pay the $2 event fee.

Ooops! Came home and nodded off after work. But I am still coming. I will just be a little late. I am notorious for getting lost. Can anyone forward a phone number to me in case I get lost?

Although I had been really looking forward to this, my new case of bronchitis is telling me to stay at home. :(

Have a great time alone together, everybody!

Parking information: The public spaces (parking spots not in a drive or car port) go quick in my complex. Alternately I recommend going around the corner (South Lakes) to the right and park in the South Lakes shopping center (my place is literally behind the Safeway to gauge distance). Walk between the Safeway and the Cafe Sano catering store, (left turn) follow sidewalk to path at the brick wall, (right turn) follow path until it turns into the street, head down the street just a little further, house is on the right.

I don't know if it's too late to get in on this, but it sounds like fun!

As of right now this event is still happening. Check your Emails at 5pm tomorrow for the final decision to whether the weather canceled our plans. (A decision will NOT be made before then)

For our movie for the evening I have received ONE anonymous suggestion for us to watch "Twilight" MST3K style. If no one else suggests a movie we'll watch that one. If you don't want to watch Twilight please comment (or email me) with another film suggestion that is fun to make fun of.

Ack!! Please, not Twilight! Maybe Ladyhawke? It's romancey, 80s, fantasy themes, and has some make-funnable pieces...

@Kristine it's not Twilight anymore it's the film I linked in the comments above. It's a 1960's Dinosaur film, should be easy to riff.

I don't have my 7-year-old Valentine this weekend so I'll be happy to spend it with friends.

I would love to be able to carpool with others, however. Anyone else traveling from East Fairfax?

I can come and get you if no one who lives closer than I do volunteers.

I'm not very SAD but this does sound like fun. I assume wine is allowed?

What Steve B said, and please note if either of the hosts believes you to be intoxicated we will take your keys.

Is alcohol permitted? I'm thinking chocolate liquor instead of the typical heart-shaped chocolate box that most people do on V-day.

Anyone up for playing games? Maybe some us may want to bring our favorites. I know Steve has at least CAH.

The currently plan is to watch a movie MST3K style. If before or afterwards people want to play a game that will be fine. Watching movies this way is a fun game all on it's own.

The current plan for activity/entertainment is to watch bad lovey dovey movies Mystery Science Theater 3000 style. Please suggest a movie that is fun to make fun of (esp when you're single on SAD Day) below to help us narrow down the titles.
