The Virginia Renaissance Faire runs weekends May 10-June 8. It's not nearly as big as the Maryland Renaissance Festival, but has a charm of its own and is located on the grounds of a winery near Lake Anna. Plus: alpacas!
Pay the entrance fee of $9 at the gate.
The faire is open from 10 am - 5pm. I imagine there will be a line to get in at 10am, so we should meet in the line or just inside the faire (we can wait for people in the large grassy area just past the entrance gate). Different people will probably want to see different things, so we can split up and regroup during the day, and people who want to arrive later or leave early can do so.
If you need a ride or want to carpool, leave a comment.
I will update if it looks like it will be raining, with a backup date of Sunday, May 18th, and if the whole weekend is a washout, we can reschedule for a later date (or go in the rain!)
May 17th is part of their Pirate Invasion weekend, so feel free to dress the part!
Rather than rely on GPS, I recommend following the driving directions on the Faire's website: if coming from the north, take I-95 to Exit 118 West onto 606 then a left onto 208 to reach the site of the faire at Lake Anna Winery. I-95 is often backed up on weekend mornings, so plan accordingly. See: www.varf.org
