I have been a geek all my life. (My mom told me I could never join the Miss America competition because my talent was reading!) So this sounds like my kind of group.
Reading all kinds of books. Joss Whedon opus. Tarot cards (I am NOT into New Age!) Fiber arts: I spin on a spinning wheel and weave. Dr Who (I was a founding member of the Disciples of Rassilon a very successful fan club in the late 70's/early 80's.) Japanese Anime.
Mercedes Lackey (not so much Valdemar, but I wore out my copy of Fairy Godmother and had to get a new one!) Books, I guess it is the Fairy Godmother. Movies? Battle Beyond the Stars (Roger Corman--his S/F stuff was wonderful and not so gruesome either.) I learned D&D from people who learned it from David Arnson and Gary Gygax and played Stalking the Night Fantastic with the guy who invented it, but I am so Role playing gamed-out I would rather play board games right now.
A friend who mentored me a Tarot card reader (and designed the deck I use) is the biggest one. (the World Tree Tarot)
I live in Old Irving (Pulaski and Irving Park) so this area would be good for me. I can travel where ever and I am willing to car pool if needed.
I was a professional puppeteer for a few years. And a librarian.
What a fun group! I look forward to having a good time with you guys again.
I'm so excited I found this group! I live right at peterson and california and I've been trying to find a group for spinning tips, I'll see you on Sunday at Panera!
Hi!! Welcome to the group! I look forward to meeting you! I kind of wish we still had darkrooms. Not that I am any good at film, but at least then you knew when a picture was actually good or just doctored up. -DS
Will you be joining us Wednesday for "Night Of The Hunter" at the Portage?
Hello! Hope all is well with you. I tried to find more details about this but had trouble - I am so computer dumb. What are the other days for this event? I will not be sure about Sunday until Saturday. I will let you know. Have been very fatigued and low energy the past few days, pushing myself to do what I must - laundry today. I will call. How are you? Take care.
Hi Barbara, I live in the northern burbs and I agree with your thoughts on why feminism is important. I see you are a fiber artist, also. Look forward to hearing more about that, too. Hope to meet you soon. Karen
Hi Barb! Great meeting you! Hope to see you again at SST :)
Thanks for joining, welcome to Geek Girls! I look forward to meeting you some time soon at one of our meetups. I am falling way behind on saying hi to all the new geek girls, but I hope to meet you soon in person :)
Thanks for mentioning Mercedes Lackey, thanks to your blurb I just bought Fairy Godmother! We will have to discuss it sometime :)
