San Diego Hot Chocolate 15/5K

Do you like running? Do you like chocolate? If the answer to both these questions is "yes," then come join us for one tasty time down at Petco Park. We will be doing the 5K part of the race which starts at 6:45am but since packet pickup is that same day and lineup begins at 6:15am, we will meet earlier at the tables. A 15min mile is required for the race, which equates to serious power walking/4mph. If you cannot keep this pace, please do not sign up. While still considered a fun run, it is timed and the organizers have made it clear that they cannot guarantee course support. I run at a 10:30/mile pace which is nowhere near competitive but comfortable for me.

Registration is $48.00 with a $3.25 fee and will benefit the Ronald McDonald House. You will receive a sweatshirt and the best part, a big mug at the finish line with a cup of hot cocoa, dipping chocolate, and various goodies to dip in the chocolate. Since this is a public event, husbands and boyfriends are invited to participate.

Even though there was no way to create a team on the website, we can consider coordinating as one. If people are interested in this, please comment below and we can schedule a mini-meeting beforehand to discuss what to wear. Registration and full information can be found here:

http://www.hotchocolate15k.com/sandiego/

And information on the Couch to 5K training program can be found here:

Even if you don't complete the program before race day, this is a good place to start and help you know what you're getting into.

Lastly, this is the app I used personally for C25K:

Hope to see you there!

I have changed the meeting time to 6:00am. This will give us a chance to say hi and plan a meeting spot for after the race. I still plan on getting there a little earlier due to parking. Once I pick up my packet on Friday, I will post about where our initial meetup spot will be.

Arrgh, so it looks like the packet pick-up isn't going to be anywhere near the race route. Call or text me at[masked] so we can find each other. I am going to see about getting placed in one of the last corrals, got a new injury :/

For those that are interested in ordering shirts, these are the ones I found: http://www.zazzle.com/supergirl...
You are welcome to choose another superhero logo if you have a different preference as you may end up using them in future races. You will have to scroll down a little, select See all styles>Women and scroll down to Ladies Performance Micro-fiber T-shirt. Zazzle is running a 20% off sale that runs until this Wednesday 3/6/13 and it will work for this type of tee.

Since packet pick-up isn't that same day, will we be meeting up later than 5:30 that morning? Also, may I inquire regarding what times people indicated for their pacing? We may have to be separated during lineup so maybe we can meet up beforehand and pick a spot to convene at after the race is over to celebrate. Just an idea!

I was thinking about this too but it may not be by much as line up begins at 6:15a. I'm leaning towards changing the time to 6am but I will still be there somewhat early as it is expected to be a crazy morning with parking. Run time is still roughly 10:30/mile.

Update on shirts: I've been looking into us just having coordinating shirts. Right now, GG does not have a logo and I'd hate to have some printed out and chance not being able to sport them in future runs that we do once a logo is created. So I found that Zazzle has designs that they will print on moisture wicking shirts. We can either try and meet up for coffee/dinner to discuss all of this next week or I can just link to everything here. Sorry for the short notice, it's been a very busy month. Any evening March 1-9 after 6p will work, taking into consideration those who work and if it's a weekend, an afternoon meet up can happen. Please comment below on what works best.

That's week's kind of tough for me because I have family in town, but just keep me posted and if the price is right then I'll chip in. I'm also going to be running this with a friend who isn't part of this meet up.

When I went to sign up, I had to click a checkbox that read "I understand that there is no race day packet pickup," which contradicts the event description regarding packet pickup that same day :/

Argh, sorry about that. Looks like info was updated in a hurry. But Annie is correct, one of us will gladly pick up your packet if you cannot make the Friday expo and bring it Saturday morning.

The 24th is a Sunday - but no worries, ladies, I can make it down there to get it the Friday or Saturday prior :)

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
