Baz Luhrman Double Feature

Cast: Claire Danes, Leonardo DiCaprio, Nicole Kidman, Ewan McGregor

The Baz Luhrman Double Feature includes ROMEO + JULIET and MOULIN ROUGE! ROMEO + JULIET The classic Shakespearean romantic tragedy is updated by director Baz Luhrmann to a post-modern Verona Beach where swords are merely a brand of gun and bored youths are easily spurred toward violence. Romeo (Leonardo DiCaprio) is aloof toward the goings-on of his Montague cousins, but after he realizes that Juliet (Claire Danes) is a Capulet at the end of one very wild party, the enmity between the two clans becomes the root of his angst. Romeo + Juliet was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Art Direction. Original Release: 1996. DIGITAL. Running Time: 120 Mins. MOULIN ROUGE! The third film from pop-music-obsessed director Baz Luhrmann tweaks the conventions of the musical genre by mixing a period romance with anachronistic dialogue and songs in the style of his previous Romeo+Juliet (1996). Ewan McGregor stars as Christian, who leaves behind his bourgeois father during the French belle époque of the late 1890s to seek his fortunes in the bohemian underworld of Montmartre, Paris. Christian falls into a tragically doomed romance with the courtesan Satine (Nicole Kidman), who becomes the star of the play he's writing. Moulin Rouge! won two Academy Awards: Best Art Direction and Best Costume Design. It was nominated for six more, including Best Picture. Original Release: 2001. DIGITAL. Running Time: 127 Mins.

NOTE: ArcLight offers pre-pay & assigned seating options. I would recommend coordinating where y'all want to sit & buying in advance. Here is the link for sales (click on the time to buy tickets): --art

I'm still getting used to the fact that Arclight does that. Will you be at Dupar's Tues 3/26? We can battle then.\

I love these movies and perhaps not Geeky in a SciFi sense, they are certainly cat nip for costumers, have assorted man candy, filled with pop music fun time, and UTC has Gelato and the the Arclight has a bar.
